Despicable Me 2 of 2013 is a computer-animated comedy film set by Illumination Entertainment and distribution carried out by Universal Pictures. It is a continuation of Despicable Me of 2010 and the second film of the Despicable Me franchise.
The film is co-written by Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul and directed by Chris Renaud and Pierre Coffin. Despicable Me 2 features the voices of Ken Jeong, Steve Carrell, Russell Brand, Miranda Cosgrove, Benjamin Bratt, and Kristen Wiig.
The film premiered in Australia on 5 June 2013 and was opened on 3 July in the United States. Despicable Me 2 was generally received with great reviews and earned more than $970 million internationally after pumping $76 million into its production. At its opening time, the film emerged as the second highest-earning animated movie of all time. It is still the third highest-grossing film of 2013.
Despicable Me 2 bagged several nominations, including for Academy Award for Best Original Song (Happy) and the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. In the 101 history years of Universal Pictures, the film earned them the highest profit. A continuation, spin-off prequel of the film is already out: Despicable Me 3 of 2017 and Minions of 2015, respectively.
